Groundswell specialize in peer-led work – involving people with experience of homelessness in finding real solutions to homelessness. We do this through Peer Research, Peer Advocacy and Peer Education. We also train clients and service providers to have the skills to work more effectively together through client involvement.
Groundswell focuses on supporting homeless people to address their Health needs. This work includes Homeless Health Peer Advocacy which which helps individuals improve their health, transforms the way health services interact with homeless people and saves NHS money and the TB Peer Education project to support homeless and vulnerable people to get screened for tuberculosis.
Our Peer Research work enables people with experience of homelessness and social exclusion to find out what is really going on, utilising their experiences to improve services and policy. Our work includes Insight & Action and the Escape Plan – conducted by and for homeless people to help discover, share and create practical solutions to homelessness.
We created the Homeless People’s Commission as a way for homeless people to use their personal experiences to positively influence policy issues.
