Groundswell Timeline /2017

In early 2017 the first Groundswell ‘feature edition’ of the Pavement magazine was published. This was part of the three year ‘From the Ground Up’ peer journalism project delivered in partnership with the Pavement magazine. Over the three years From the Ground Up trained 20 people with experience of homelessness in journalism, so they could report on the issues that most affect the homeless community. Peer Journalists were encouraged to use their lived experience of homelessness to help them gather insights other people from the homeless community and professionals from organisations working with people experiencing homelessness.

The feature issues covered issues ranging from suicide, to shame and the experiences of homeless women. Each edition featured articles, stories, poetry, advice and art and many were accompanied by podcasts. You can check out some of the peer journalists’ creations here.
