Emma Casey

#HealthNow Peer Coordinator

Emma joined Groundswell in March 2021 as the #HealthNow Peer Coordinator.  Her role is to coordinate and bring together Groundswell’s national network of peers with experience of homelessness, and to ensure they are fully supported to share their insights and experiences of the healthcare barriers they have faced with NHS stakeholders.

Emma was previously employed by Shelter as a Peer Researcher via a GROW traineeship, a lived experience employment programme which provided her with many opportunities to gain skills, confidence and experience within the sector.  She has also worked on the Public Engagement Team for the NIHR Public Mental Health project and has a keen interest in mental health and wellbeing.

Emma feels passionately about ensuring that people with lived experience are supported to voice their concerns and to share their expertise on any issues which affect them, and that they have access to opportunities which will allow them to advance and thrive in their lives.
