A new co-produced website for Groundswell

We have now launched our new website and it’s been a truly co-produced process, which is something that aligns with our values as an organisation. One thing we have heard over time was that our website needed some upgrades so we sat down with everyone (all 130 staff, volunteers, board members, some clients and partners) to look at our website.

Some of the improvements you’ll see?

  • A faster and more accessible Health Resource Hub
  • Clearer navigation and ways to find help quickly
  • Better accessibility overall
  • A website optimised for phones and desktops
  • And a cleaner look.

So why the upgrade?

We’re always thinking about ways to make what we offer better for our clients, staff, volunteers and partners. People identified what was working well, what they thought needed improving, and their wish lists for a new site. Some things that were discussed were accessibility, speed, refining content to ensure it was easy to find, making the site easier to use, and a more Groundswell-feel.

After this, we compiled it all into a huge brief and sent it out to tender. We interviewed with some amazing developers but finally chose Third Sector lab, who have been helping us with the process of making our website more what we want it to be and to meet the needs of those we support and work with.

Since we’re a co-production charity, we went back to everyone again and got the conversation going between the developers and our people, with written, hybrid and online feedback sessions. We had some obstacles along the way, as with any large project like this, but we worked through this as a huge team. We also want to acknowledge the support of our funders, The Clothmakers’ Foundation and The Boston Scientific Foundation Europe.

We hope our website will make finding our resources easier for people experiencing homelessness and those who support them, help speed up the process of being referred to our Homeless Health Peer Advocacy Service, and better highlight the work we’re doing across participation, research and policy.

We’re really excited to be launching our new website and we would love to hear your feedback! Please share the website with your partners and anyone you think might find it useful.
