Our celebration event – a great success!
“Groundswell changes lives” was the message of our celebration event on November 20th at St Giles’ Church in London.
Attended by supporters from across the homelessness and health sectors, individual supporters, Groundswell volunteers and staff, and some very special guests – it was a fantastic night.
The Choir With No Name kicked things off with a beautiful collective voice that filled the church, followed by an introduction from our CEO, Michael Chandler. We also heard from current Groundswell peer advocates about the impact Groundwell has had on their lives – from giving them direction, hope, purpose and valuable skills. Our ambassador, Gethin Anthony, shared a story about accessing medication and talked about the great work Groundswell does to help people access vital healthcare when they need it.
Another guest performer was Surfing Sofas, whose poetry covered issues around homelessness and culminated in a fantastic Groundswell-themed poem. You can read a snippet of this below!
You see – from 1992 till now, Groundswell has been dedicated
To fighting for what’s right – and their work should be celebrated.
Groundswell do the good work, and help people properly.
They fight for those experiencing homelessness and health inequality.
With real concern for people’s welfare,
They advocate for equal healthcare
And most of us know really well here – that
Groundswell changes lives.
At this amazing event, we also launched our Winter Campaign – Support Someone’s Next Year. This campaign is focused on ensuring that people aren’t just getting help, but real, sustained support. We believe that meaningful change doesn’t come from moments, it comes from the journey. So this winter, we’re asking our supporters to help begin someone’s journey or develop their support. Your gift will help with building stronger health, dignity, and futures. You can find out more about our Support Someone’s Next Year campaign here.
