Safeguarding

Everyone involved in Groundswell’s work shares the important responsibility of making sure that people’s rights to safety are protected.  This includes the rights of everyone who comes into contact with our staff and volunteers; and our staff and volunteers themselves.

When people start to volunteer or work with Groundswell we provide them with training so that they can recognise and respond to any concerns, allegations or disclosures of harm and abuse.  Within Groundswell we have policies and procedures that support our volunteers and staff to carry out these responsibilities.

If we think that someone who uses our services is at risk of abuse or neglect, we will first discuss with them how they would like us to support them to get more help.  This could include alerting the Local Authority or their NHS clinicians about safeguarding concerns.  When people first agree to working with Groundswell, we explain this in more detail.
