Poor access to dental services has a significant impact on the lives of people experiencing homelessness. Poor oral health commonly causes pain and suffering; dental pain can have a negative impact on mental and physical health and in some cases can cause people to use alcohol or drugs to control their pain.
We have produced a poster and accompanying guidance notes in partnership with the London Homeless Health Programme and Public Health England that aims to:
- Help people who are homeless find information about local dentists and how to access dental services.
- Give a step-by-step guide for staff working in homelessness services on how you can become an ‘Oral health champion’.
Our Healthy Mouths project aims to promote good oral health, help people experiencing homelessness into dental services and create inspirational local ‘oral health champions’ because we believe that everyone has the right to a healthy mouth. Read more about the Healthy Mouths project here.
Organisations may wish to print the poster themselves. You can get print ready files for professional printing in A2 here. If you wish to print in A3 on an office based printer the files are available here.
