Support Someone’s Next Year with Groundswell

A small change can lead to a big difference for someone’s life

Support someone’s next year with Groundswell

At Groundswell, our work isn’t about one moment—it’s about walking alongside people over time. From first contact, through multiple appointments, to progress in health, confidence, and opportunity. It takes many small steps—often unseen—to ensure support is meaningful, sustainable, and life-changing. We ensure that every part of the journey—from initial contact, through travel, wellbeing, coordination—is covered, so people aren’t left to struggle alone.

Last year, Maria* was left homeless and with no other options available to her experienced a period of rough sleeping, while occasionally finding space in one of the winter night shelters dotted around the city. With no permanent address, no GP and her health quickly deteriorating, Maria ended up in hospital with pneumonia and was referred to Groundswell for support.  With a peer advocate by her side, she was finally able to register temporarily with a specialist GP service close to one of the night shelters.

Maria is now in a hostel and thanks to a few tips picked up from her advocate along the way, she has managed to register herself with a new and permanent GP,  attends most of her appointments independently and keeps in touch regularly. She’s rebuilding her health slowly but surely, and recently decided to become a peer advocate herself! We look forward to welcoming her.

Join us this winter to ensure people aren’t just getting help, but real, sustained support. Meaningful change doesn’t come from moments—it comes from the journey.

Will you help someone’s next year begin today?
