Groundswell Timeline /2019

August 2019 saw the beginning of Groundswell’s award winning Homeless Health Peer Advocacy (HHPA) service going to cities outside of London, where it has been delivered in over 10 boroughs since 2010. This new model sees Groundswell partner with local homelessness support services, supporting them to train a group of volunteers with experience of homelessness to become peer advocates. HHPA will be managed and delivered by the local partner with support from our team.

The first HHPA partnership outside of London was with Depaul Ireland, who from September 2019 delivered HHPA in Dublin. They sourced funding and in August their team visited our HQ in London to partake in ‘train the trainer’ training with our Project Manager Sharon (pictured). Find out how you can set up a HHPA service in your area.
